Buyer/Planner

We are hiring for a Buyer/Planner to join our growing team. This role is responsible for the planning and procurement of lab supplies, reagents, and capital equipment on behalf of the Terremoto scientific team. This person will manage supplier relationship development and provide critical support to the internal teams. They will oversee proactive management of lab and experimental material supply, cost and inventory management, and capital equipment. The ideal candidate has excellent attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with all members of Terremoto. This candidate will also assist with basic accounting tasks. Our Buyer/Planner is a hands-on do-er. This role will report to the Head of Finance.

Responsibilities

  • Procurement
    • Manage lab stock room supplies including proactive inventory management
    • Establish supplier relationships, ongoing communication with suppliers regarding order requirements and identification and implementation of cost reduction opportunities
    • Place purchase orders in a timely manner; negotiate cost and delivery lead times
    • Track inventory; monitor material shelf life and expiration dates; disposition obsolete inventory
    • Coordinate with the logistics partner for freight management and customs clearance
    • Proactively engage with the local and remote scientific teams to understand ongoing lab supply and reagent needs and ensure availability of supplies to meet experimental schedules
    • Manage and work cross functionally with the Finance team to ensure the development and the administration of purchasing policies and report metrics related to cost/inventory management, and order fulfillment
    • Support coordination of legal documents for relevant internal stakeholders
  • Accounting
    • Manage and review the processing of the weekly check runs and cash management activities
    • Responsible for the fixed assets area including reviewing the fixed asset transactions and fixed assets schedules, preparing quarterly fixed assets roll forward and ensuring fixed assets are tagged and accounted for consistent with corporate policy

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience at a life sciences /biotech company is required or ability to demonstrate Buyer II skill sets.
  • A BS/BA degree
  • A strong understanding of supply chain, supplier management, purchasing, and inventory management principles
  • Full cycle accounts payable knowledge is a plus
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to multi-task
  • Must possess a highly-positive and service-oriented approach to working both internally and externally.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and problem solve; ability to follow-through and close loops.
  • Ability to wear multiple hats and work effectively in a fast-paced, fast-growth organization.
  • Strong MS Office skills
