Executive Chairman

Chuck has served as Executive Chairman of the Board since August of 2026.  He previously served as CEO of Terremoto Biosciences from 2024 to 2026. Prior to Terremoto, he was Founder, CEO and President,  at Mirati , where he also served as a Board Member since 2012 through its acquisition by Bristol Meyers Squibb in 2024.

Under his leadership, Mirati transformed into a precision oncology company focused on advancing drug discovery and research and delivering novel therapeutics that target the genetic drivers of cancer.

Prior to his tenure at Mirati, Dr. Baum held positions of increasing responsibility in oncology development at Pfizer, where he was responsible for the development of several major drugs, including Inlyta®, Xalkori®, Ibrance® and Sutent®.  While at Schering Plough he contributed to the development of Temodar® for the treatment of patients with glioblastoma.

Chuck’s career has also included academic and hospital positions at Stanford and Emory universities. He currently serves on the board of directors at PMV Pharma, Acrivon Therapeutics and Crossbow Therapeutics. Previously, Chuck served as a member of the board of Array Biopharma from 2014 to 2019 when it was acquired by Pfizer, Inc., Immunomedics from 2019 to 2020 when it was acquired by Gilead, and BCTG Acquisition Corp from 2020 to 2021 when it merged with Tango Therapeutics, and Poseida Therapeutics from 2022 to 2025 when it was acquired by Roche Holdings. He also previously served on the Scientific Advisory Board at ALX Oncology and the board of Odyssey Therapeutics.

Chuck received his M.D. and Ph.D. degrees from Washington University School of Medicine Medical Scientist Training Program and completed his post-graduate training at Stanford University. Additionally, he has received research support from the National Institutes of Health and the American Cancer Society, published a number of peer-reviewed manuscripts and holds a number of patents and patent applications.
